In 2021, couldn’t we all use a little more love in our lives?

Francesca Confortini and Maxine Sparkles serenade the spirit of America with the soulful offering, “Make America Love Again”. Their beautiful voices evoke compassion and a yearning for softer, less confrontational days. Touching on historic topics and eras, the song carries a gospel quality with hints of a gentler Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start The Fire”.

The music production is simple but top notch in its mix and harmony. Its lovely keys and ear worm chorus reach all the way across the pond to embrace the best in all of us.

Directed by Tone Davies and The Woolfman, “Make America Love Again” tries to make the most out of Covid restrictions by adding a broadcast appearance within vintage television images. They use what they can - including different takes of the talented singers and other clips to support the narrative, while adding keyframe movement to keep the eye from wandering.

The message is effective and enjoyable. I’m really glad that I had the opportunity to not only listen to this high quality production but to review the video multiple times to appreciate its aesthetic.

This team’s self-proclaimed “new American Anthem spawned from the thoughts of Spike Lee” is sure to touch the hearts of many (and get stuck in more than a few heads!).
